British national tried to kill Trump?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) June 22nd, 2016

Not sure what he wanted to achieve by doing this? Will this incident add any soft corner for Trump in people’s mind and help him eventually?

He failed, so nobody cares. A lunatic with a gun in America is no longer news.

Stanleybmanly, I heard he took a cops gun who was near by. So at least he didn’t buy it legally…

To answer the question, doesn’t change my mind on Trump. Still think he’s a dangerous man. He’s drumming up the worst of America’s idiots , and frankly, stirring the shit. His rhetoric is divisive, and inflammatory. He is a war monger, and a liar. Most of his ‘agenda’ is unrealistic, poorly thought out nonsense. When he’s put on the spot he usually shows his true colors. He doesn’t have a clue how to hold ANY public office, let alone be president. The fact that he has even a fraction of the popularity he enjoys is disturbing to me. His claims remind me more like those of a crazy homeless man yelling on the street at anyone who will listen , than that of a person seriously seeking to run for office. IMO it’s too bad the guy didn’t kill him, or at least shoot him in the mouth, so I don’t have to hear him shooting his mouth off… It seems like mostly only good people are assassinated. MLK jr, JFK to name a few. It’s a anomaly that someone tried to kill a person who is actually bad (well, bad for the world. )
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he deserves to die, but if I had to choose between him being president, or him being dead, I easily choose the later…
I’m sure Trump is so detached from reality that it won’t bother him though. As for the guy who tried to kill him, he sounds like a crazy man who will now be locked up, where he belongs.

This kid did the same thing my brother thought he was going to do when he was the same age.

Played around with this ridiculous idea that he could disarm a cop, kill someone, then kill himself (either by turning the gun on himself or suicide-by-cop) and be hailed a hero.

Dumbass.

The kid is a British citizen? I doubt he’s ever even touched a gun holster before that day, much less learned how to open one and remove the gun backwards with his non-dominant hand.

James goddamn Bond we are not.

@MrGrimm888 The depressing thing about this situation is that it’s probably a mistake to blame Trump. Let’s say you walked into a nuclear power plant, went into the director’s office and found a baboon sitting at the desk. Something’s clearly amiss, but faulting the baboon is a waste of time. Palin was the clue, and we made the mistake of thinking her an anomaly. An overview of the people fielded particularly on the right for the highest office in the land is chilling. I never dreamed prior to the ascendancy of right wing politics that ANYTHING in this country’s political doings was more critical than the corruption defining the process itself. I was wrong.

Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and George Wallace all survived real assassination attempts, not pitiful attempts like this. This idiot couldn’t clear the holster.

I say, let’s ban all white, English-speaking, non-Muslim people from entering this country. Clearly, they’re dangerous and can’t be trusted.

At least until we know what is going on!
In any case, you have to appreciate the irony of a British guy trying to save the colonies from tyranny.
