Have you ever had anything happen to you personally that just made no sense at all?

Asked by jca (36062points) January 22nd, 2017

About two months ago, there was a woman parked in the spot next to mine in the work lot. She saw me coming and shut her SUV door and moved to the back of her car so I could pull in. She then came to her driver side back door and opened it really hard, hitting my car. I got out and saw a slight dent and chipped paint. I said “you know you just hit my car.” She said “Aw geez, are you sure that wasn’t there already?” I said “no, and if you open your car door you’ll see it hits in the exact same spot.” She said “Do you want me to get you some paint?” At that point I said nothing more and just walked away. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do because I was just upset.

When I told her I was going to report it to the insurance company, her response was “they’re just going to give you ten dollars’ worth of paint.”

Long story short her insurance company ended up giving me almost $600 for what she did.

It was so weird because she saw me coming, knew I was there and knew I was in the car. There was no car on her passenger side so if she wanted to get stuff out of her car and felt it was too tight, she could have opened the passenger side door. Her response should have been apologetic and instead it was nasty.

Have you ever had anything happen in your personal life that was so incomprehensible, you just couldn’t make any sense of it?

I once got into a bit of a squabble with a fellow employee. Then a phone call was made to this fellow’s wife and I got blamed. I had no idea who did it, and neither did anyone else.

My first marriage. What was I thinking?

Waking up at 2 am on Nov. 9 to see that Donald Trump had been elected president of the U.S. If I live to be 100 I doubt I will ever experience anything that makes less sense.

dealing with idiot drivers every day, having to be in front of me just to slow down and proceed to travel 10 to 15kph slower than I was traveling.

Peoples absolute love of their cell phones and giving up all common sense just to use them at the most improper time.

Most things people do make little sense to me, but I am not a people person.

People often react angrily when they are confronted with evidence of their own wrongdoing. It’s understandable that she was defensive. (Not making excuses for her behavior, just trying to put it in context.)

Lol, @SQUEEKY2, we all know plenty about how baffled you are by cell phone use.

I know @AnonymousAccount8 It still baffles me how most people are so addicted to their cell phones.

I’m confused a bit, @jca. Was she in the process of getting in her car when you pulled in?

jca's avatar

No, @Dutchess_III, she was in the process of getting stuff out of her car for the start of the work day.

I guess that would frustrate me a bit too. I wouldn’t react that way but, yeah. Trying to get stuff out of the car and someone decides to pull in the spot right next to me and interrupts me, instead of waiting a minute until I was done.

Glad your insurance saw the fault in her behaviour and paid you to get it repaired. Her actions were unreasonable (we seem to be seeing more and more of such nastiness).

I can’t think of anything right now, but I’ll ponder on your question.

Does this site count? I might run out of fingers and toes.

@Dutchess_III: To add to it, she was not in her assigned spot but I was parking in my assigned spot. As I said before, she had no car on her passenger side so she could have gotten her stuff out from the passenger side. On top of that, it’s not like she just tapped my car with her door. She seemed to do it on purpose. For whatever reason, her temper or something, it cost her.

I understand.

About 3 years ago I was backing out of a parking space. A bunch of teenagers were gathered behind my car. I put it in reverse. I saw a couple of them glance over, but none of them moved! So weird.

I cannot for the life of me understand why my roommate keeps lying directly to my face about stealing my food while he is CURRENTLY eating it IN FRONT OF ME and thinking I don’t know he’s lying???

Dutchess_III's avatar

Don’t have children with him @lentil!
