it is believed that because of the unworthiness of the people God took it back unto himself. We really don’t know though. My bet is that no one knows because if we did it would be very good dinner conversation.

Haven’t you ever seen Raiders of the Lost Ark?

When the Hebrews settled in Canaan they put the Ark in a place called The Temple of Solomon where it stayed for many years, ‘til all of the sudden, whoosh, it was gone. Nobody knows where or when. However, an Egyptian pharaoh, Shishak, invaded the city of Jerusalem round about 980 B.C., and he may have take the Ark back to the city of Tanis and hid it in a secret chamber called The Well of Souls. About a year after the pharaoh had returned to Egypt, the city of Tanis was consumed by the desert in a sand storm which lasted a whole year. Wiped clean by the wrath of God.

A group of Christians in Aksum, Ethiopia claim to have it. We’ll never know if it’s true because only the single guardian is ever allowed to see it, and he doesn’t talk about it with anyone.

Harp, thanks for that link; it’s very interesting, indeed, but I don’t believe that it is really there, just as I don’t believe there is any gold in Ft. Knox, either.

Many places claiming to house valuable artifacts or large amounts of money are what are known as, “dummy locations;” specifically created and maintained to pretend to house “whatever,” while the REAL artifact or valuables are safely hidden away in another location.

I spent some time in the USAF, which is how I know a little bit about such things, and no, before anyone asks, I will not provide “proof” as to how I know these things, except to say that the knowledgte came to me, in the official performance of certain duties I had, as a comissioned officer. So there.

Anyway, if you want to successfully hide something, you first create a “dummy location,” then extensively publicize the location, so everyone (and his/her mother) knows exactly where “it” is located, and that “it” is heavily guarded, 24/7.

Once that’s accomplished, you take whatever “it” is to it’s TRUE hiding place, content that everyone in the world will believe that “it” is located in the fake/publicized location, and not where it is really hidden.

As a Captain in the USAF, I was assigned to guard an aircraft, that I was told housed some top-secret information. I guarded that jet with my life, and with the lives of the airmen underneath my command.

After my assignment was completed, my commanding officer commended me on my work, then informed me that the jet I was guarding was in fact a DECOY, and housed no sensitive information, whatsoever.

That’s the way governments and private industries work. Create the illusion, then reinforce it with more illusion, while the real item needing safeguarding is probably located thousands of miles away.

A brilliant idea, when you stop and think about it.

@JackAdams – What you’ve said here is very logical, it makes a lot of sense. Also very interesting to hear about your personal experiences.

Thank you for seeing the logic in it.

I mean, if you really HAD $100 Billion worth of solid gold, would you tell everyone where it REALLY is?

You would tell the public where you want them to THINK it is located, then keep the real location, super-secret.

Here’s another thing that I know, from personal experience in the US Military, but I don’t know speciific names:

Many of the graves at the Arlington National Cemetery are EMPTY, and instead of human bodies inside, there are nothing but WEIGHTS.

If anyone wants the explanation for that, ask.

@JackAdams – I would imagine it may be because some of the bodies weren’t actually found, or maybe blown to smithereens and so there literally wasn’t anything to put into a coffin and grave? I’m only guessing of course, and I must admit to being intrigued. So, yes please, I’d love to have an explanation.

When a person is placed into the federal Witness Protection Program, run by the US Marshals Service, if that person served in the US Military, then they sometimes hold a FAKE funeral for that person, to convince his/her enemies that he has died.

This is sometimes done, in cases where someone testified against someone who has the “connections” to have the witness (and maybe his immediate family members) killed.

Then, a new identity is created for that person. Later on, when the person has really died, his remains are finally placed in the fake grave, and the tombstone is replaced with one that shows his correct death date. Or, the grave is used by someone else, if the family doesn’t want their relative buried at Arlington.

There are thousands of people currently in the Witness Protection Program.
