How do you feel about online fashion communities like Wardrobe Remix?

Asked by Nimis (13260points) September 17th, 2008

Wardrobe Remix Do you feel it’s a healthy peer-to-peer alternative to mainstream fashion? Do you think it’s just a forum for hipsters? Do you think it is merely perpetuating online narcissism? Why do you think there has been a recent rise in these types of communities?
I know some of you couldn’t care less about any of these fashion communities.
But what do you think of the implication of the increase in these types of communities?

That they correspond to the general rise of interest in fashion represented by shows like Project Runway, by makeovers everywhere on the tube, by all the shows about supermodels and becoming one, etc.

What about its relation to the shorter, faster fashion cycles?
Or to online narcissism in general?

Could well be. I, for one, am not really familiar enough with them in an in-depth way to venture an opinion on that.
