I need to make a halloween movie for work, anyone have a good idea for a scary short film?

Asked by eatmunky (358points) October 20th, 2008

The only requirements are: Has to be SFW obviously, and has to have something to do with halloween, or scariness. approx. 5 min, and I don’t really wanna do anything too cheesy. I’m pretty good at video editing, so I can make it look nice, the problem is we want to do a scary short movie, but we’re lacking on story ideas. We have a few scary locations picked out though. O, and I work at a video game company, so if that could be factored in somehow it would be cool, but not necessary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You buy a doll for your daughter then it comes to life and kills everyone.

Sorry I don’t have very good ideas.

NASA puts a cockroach on mars and forgets about it and ten years later its giant and mutated and flies to earth in NY and starts destroying everything and the rest could be like Godzilla or king Kong

hello every one do you like my idea about the cockroach

haha I like Pixel’s ideas. the second one would be hilarious. and @ctimm15: Not a bad idea, but I’m on a bit of a budget. (Like 20 bucks). Plus even if I tried to do it really low budget, I’m kinda constrained by time. But thanks for the suggestion!

Hey, thanks for the compliment. Though I do have an idea that would work with a smaller budget. You become friends with someone all nice and generous new then discover she is a vampire and is just after your blood. Or something similar and with a bit of creativity it could be great. Just a bit of makeup and plastic fangs which can be found almost anywhere around the Halloween time. Just a suggestion. ;).

You could do one about the absurd tale of a guy who worked at a video game company and had to make a Halloween movie for 20$ and was running out of time. I’m totally serious. Take the worst idea for a movie and have scary stuff happen to the crew that is trying to make the bad movie. Like the actors you hire for the bad movie turn out to be actual monsters.

Haha! Johnpowell that was a great idea and very original. I think that would be fun to watch.

How about a haunted office cubicle that turns people into zombies?

A guy steals a car and it has one of those GPS systems with the nice sounding woman and he gets lost and tries to program it but the woman always says something like “take a right in two miles” and so and so and it just keeps taking him to really crappy places like Wal-Mart.

might i suggest a funny movie? like one that plays off of a scary movie.
I saw the trailer for The Strangers the other day & laughed so hard. wow, the movies these days…. anyways – i think a spoof of something like that would be great.

“Haunted office cubicle” sounds fun! you could make equipment like staplers float around with string, have the protagonist receive scary voicemails, and find scary office-to-office memos tacked to his bulletin board etc…

@shilolo: the simpsons already touched on that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtwZSF7uQLw

How about someone who is being stalked by three foot tall monsters and the only way to appease them is with Fun Size candy bars…but he is ALL OUT!
He searches the cupboards while they keep ringing and pounding at the door and shouting their horrible cry, “trick or treat!”
Finally he decides to go out and brave the dark night, he makes it to the store and…
they’re ALL OUT of candy bars too! The small monsters gather close as he cries in the parking lot.
Oh, the horror…...

Sounds like you’ve lived my nightmare, fireside.

Take an office policy (or aspect of the office) that everyone hates and give it exponential powers, or make it like a zombie movie where people succumb to the policy one by one against their will and those that succumb become zombies for the policy’s cause.

eatmunky's avatar

wow these are all fantastic. I’m running them by the person I’m making the movie with. So far we’re thinking jessturtle’s idea would be easy to do, with great results. but we’re still deliberating. Thanks so much for the input so far!

Fireside’s idea is funny but remember that there are fun sized boxes of Spam. (That’s spiced ham.) Being trapped in a locked room with a week’s supply of them is another life of hell.

Or a bowl of haunted fun size candies that keep flying out of the bowl and hitting people in the back of the head and landing in their coffee and stuff.

ctimm15's avatar

maybe a boy gets hit by a car by someone and then he came back from the dead and kept stalking the guy that hit him and keeps saying i see you!!!

One where something weird and bad is happening, and you don’t know why. Like Hitchcock’s The Birds. Terrifying.

OK, how’s this…..

A large, boorish, inauthentic carnival barker with orange hair and his wife Melanoma move to Washington DC, vowing to make everything right and fair for everyone, anywhere at anytime, all in very little time….let’s say…...15 minutes (wait, no one will believe THAT…..let’s make it….20 mimutes….).

Chaos ensues when they dismantle the EPA, and within two weeks, rivers are on fire in Ohio again (just like in 1968 !!) and urban residents across America get to wear those particle masks, just like all of those job-stealers in China.
