How do people grafitti on the sides of overpasses?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7999points) December 13th, 2009 from IM

I always see it in the city on overpasses where there aren’t any ledges for someone to stand on.

Ropes and carabiners. Many of them are skilled wall climbers. The ones that aren’t do the ol’ ‘hold your friend by the legs upside down’ maneuver.

How was already answered but I want to answer why. In the world of a tagger you get more respect putting your tag up where it is highly visible. Highway and interstate bridges and billboards are the hardest to get to and the chances of getting busted are higher due to exposure. Billboards are often referred to as “heaven” by taggers. Some billboard companies actually have bounties on prolific taggers.
