It's 3am and I am awake and up and at my computer. I have to get up at 8am. Am I crazy?

Asked by plethora (10009points) January 27th, 2010

I do this all the time. My brain kicks into gear about 10pm and I’m on a roll. I even take sleep meds. Will fall into bed now and drag in the morning. Who has suggestions for shutting things off at 10pm…or even 9pm and going to bed? I should note that when I am with my S/O every other weekend for three nights, I sleep like a baby from 10 or 11 on. Soooooo relaxing.

You’re not crazy. I tend to be a night owl as well, e.g. I have to get up at 6:45 am. Its 2:18 am now.

No, you’re not crazy… it’s 4am where I am and I will be needing to be up at 7:30 am.

Nah, I slept at 1ish and woke up at 5:30 regurarly during Freshman year. It was the fun-ness of school that made me awake, and a cup of coffee. :]
Aahh, i miss it

It’s 4:59AM here, and I haven’t slept yet. I routinely do this, and survive on as little as 4 hours of sleep. I’ve not had much success resetting my body clock… It’ll stick for a week or two then start creeping back to where I am now. Every couple of weeks, I go with no sleep at all. Since I don’t have an office job, it actually suits me pretty well these days.

I believe we have all been there at some point. I make sure I don’t get out of the bed, though, and try to get back to sleep.

Since your sleep patterns are so different when you are with your SO, I think it could be anxiety. Tray taking Calms Forte (available at any drug store) and/or drinking some chamomile tea about half an hour before bed.

I’m a regular late-nigher myself, to the point of not starting projects until 10pm.
Maybe @plethora is right.
