How long did it take you into the 10/20k mansion?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7999points) September 25th, 2010

I’ve been here for… a year, maybe, and I’m nowhere near. XD
So how long did it take you, if you remember?

I’m pretty sure I’ve won the medal for the pokiest meandering to 10k. I think it took me over 2 years.

lillycoyote's avatar

@MissAnthrope But you did just win the lillycoyote medal for using the phrase “pokiest meandering.” ;-) Unfortunately, it’s an award that carries absolutely no monetary value or prestige whatsoever

It took me exactly 7 months (June 11-January 11) to get to 10K. Haven’t gotten to 20K yet, but I will soon. :)

rebbel's avatar

56 weeks for me.

chyna's avatar

About 1 year, 4 months to reach 10K.

Fred931's avatar

I’ve been a member for about as long as @chyna took to reach 10k, and I’m at, well,
here.

I have been here about 2 and half years and I should be hitting 20k fairly soon. I don’t remember when I hit 10k.

Jude's avatar

11 months for 10, and less than 10 months for 20K.

Fred931's avatar

@mama_cakes I’ve never, ever, ever seen you on Fluther. What the hell…

aprilsimnel's avatar

About a year for 10K and ~8 months after that for 20K, I think.

man, this is depressing me

I don’t remember. A long time. For 20k, well over a year, for sure. I noticed that after the AnswerBag migration last December, people started shooting up to the heights much faster than anyone used to do, even the long-time members that everybody knew.

But people participate at different levels of activity and at different intervals, so there’s no real correlation between time and points. It doesn’t matter, anyway.

zen_'s avatar

It’s taking me forever.

Jeruba's avatar

Haha, @zen_. You’ve probably made it, what, four times by now? five? Maybe we should throw you a Perennial Youth party.

zen_'s avatar

I did get the Peter Pan award recently. ;-)

tinyfaery's avatar

It took me over a year to reach 10K and probably another year for 20K. I don’t think I’ll ever make it to 30K. It seems to be taking a very long time.

I have absolutely no clue. I can’t remember a damn thing anymore. I’ve been here since July 21, 2008… and that’s about all I know for certain. :p

wilma's avatar

I’ve been here a little over a year and I’m not there yet.

TexasDude's avatar

I’ve been here since December 11th, 2009, and I reached 10k a few weeks ago.

Jeruba's avatar

Oh—I suppose we could look up our party dates if we felt like wrestling with the search function.

MissAnthrope's avatar

Easy peasy.. literally two seconds of Google-Fu. Jeruba’s 10k party was.. June 14, 2009, 20k was Feb. 5 2010.

Jeruba's avatar

Well, then, 7 months, 4 days to 10k and an additional 7 months, 22 days to 20k, for a total of 1 year, 2 months, 26 days.

It’s been 7 months, 21 days since then, and you see, I’m not even close to 30k.

Thanks to timeanddate’s date calculator for the computations.

And what do you suppose it all means?

tinyfaery's avatar

Wow. Nice search feature.

It took me 10 months and 12 days to reach 10K (4/20/09) and another 10 months and 5 days to reach 20K (2/15/10). At this rate I should have 30K by December. We’ll see.

YARNLADY's avatar

@Jeruba It means we have found a place we enjoy and we visit here often.

MissAnthrope's avatar

@Jeruba – It means you’re awesome and people adore you. ;)

zen_'s avatar

It means, * sigh *.

augustlan's avatar

So, using @MissAnthrope‘s awesome skills, I’ve figured out that it took me 6 months, 3 days to hit 10k. Then almost 10 months later, I hit 20k. I became the community manager somewhere in between those two occasions, and the frequency of my posts went down dramatically.

As an aside, looking at my two ‘party’ questions, I only just now realized that AstroChuck asked both of them! I need to send him an extra thank you…

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

@augustlan And you’re working your way to 30K! AstroChuck is gonna have to be on the alert, or I’ll swoop in and ask your 30K party question before he gets the chance to. Muahahahaha!

OpryLeigh's avatar

I got to the 10K mark last month and I have been here since March 09 I believe. It felt like a really long time despite being here nearly everyday and I must admit to feeling a bit disheartened when new people cam along and reached 10k in a matter of months!

erichw1504's avatar

I think it took me about 8 months.

Jeruba's avatar

Aww, thanks, @MissAnthrope, but that’s not what I meant. I meant, what significance can it have to know these things? I think it’s fun to mark the milestones in the same way that it’s fun to score points in a game or go up a level, but we can’t draw any conclusions from it or attach any importance to it.

chyna's avatar

@Leanne1986 Look at it this way, you have answered only a little over 3,000 questions since March of 2009. @YARNLADY who has been here the same length of time has answered over 13,000 questions. So even though you come here everyday, you haven’t answered that many questions.

OpryLeigh's avatar

@chyna That is true. Although I am here everyday, some days I am only inspired to answer one question and other days I want to answer every question I come across.

Brian1946's avatar

It took me about 17 months.
