Phillip Seymour Hoffman gets my vote.

Viggo Mortensen. Not so much for Lord of the Rings; more for his later movies. History of Violence in particular.

I don’t know if he’s the best, but Guy Pierce has the uncanny ability to never make a bad movie.

Ron Perlman IS JUST AWESOME.

@GeorgeGee You should ask about which actors we hatehatehate. That would be interesting.

Barak Obama.

Alan Rickman has been #1 for me in recent years. Anyone who can play evil Snape in the Harry Potter movies as well as utterly charming Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, as well as a variety of well-done parts is worthy of watching on the screen.

I’d say Michael Palin, but he’s no longer acting, more’s the pity for us. You see him Brazil as Jack Lint? Man. And he’s done a bunch of work that’s totally under the radar, like that Channel 4 miniseries GBH.

Working. Hmm.

Patrick Stewart or Daniel Day Lewis.

Johnny Depp. That man can totally immerse himself into ANY role and pull it off well.

Yes, Johnny Depp is amazing.

Gary Oldman! (Daniel Day-Lewis is gaining fast!)

Actually, Jon Hamm is really, really good. This current series of Mad Men this year has really drilled home to me that beyond being a seriously gorgeous man, he has some serious acting chops. It’s too bad that the movie roles he’s been getting are lame supporting shite or are only based on his good looks.

Plus, he’s funny. He’s like Streep. Except he’s freakishly handsome.

Barbra Streisand (her talents are what makes her number 1 in my list of idols!). She has played some really diverse roles (Yentl, Meet The Fockers, Funny Girl, The Prince of Tides, Nuts etc), she has also directed and she can sing a bit!!!

I also love Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man made him an all time favourite of mine), Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Maggie Smith, Angelina Jolie, Winona Ryder, Cher (yes, I am bias but have you seen Mask? She’s stunning in that.), my list could probably go on!

@Aesthetic_Mess – He is good, isn’t he?

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

@aprilsimnel One of my favorites. It’s amazing how he can hide that accent

downtide's avatar

@Leanne1986 I saw Mask years and years ago. very touching movie, and so sad.

OpryLeigh's avatar

@downtide I agree. It’s made more touching by the fact that it’s based on a true story. It was one of the first Cher movies I ever saw and I’ve been a die hard fan ever since. Her talent in that film is underated.
