Yeah, a whole massive range to choose from I know. Just give me some of the cherries on the cake, the elite. The ones that you thought of almost as soon as you read this question. Just to get your juices flowing, there’s a fine selection here. So, what are you waiting for? I’m just dying to know!

The theme from the movie “The Untouchables” by Ennio Morricone. Actually, I should correct myself. It’s not what is considered “the theme” from that film, it’s the music that plays during the opening titles. Here:

So, suspenseful.

The Jurassic Park tune that plays as they first approach the island in the helicopter.
The Pirates of the Caribbean theme.
The entire freakin’ Inception soundtrack.
And the Mission: Impossible theme is a classic.

@diavolobella Yeah absolutely love it. Whenever I watch that movie I rewind to hear the song, at least twice. Sad I know! De Duh De….De De….:¬)

Escape From New York. I love that song. Reminds me of being a young’in who snuck downstairs late, late at night to watch it on HBO.

I also have to give mad props to John Barry for the theme from Dances with Wolves. That soundtrack is beautiful. It hits those high plaintive notes that are so gorgeous it makes your chest hurt. His theme from Somewhere in Time is also stunning.

Needless to say, the entire soundtrack from The Sting is incredible.

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille So do I….....it puts me in mind of the wife trying & ultimately failing to carve the roast. She really must learn to curb that temper of hers :¬)

The music from Requiem for a Dream was about as memorable and appropriate as any soundtrack I’ve heard, but if I had to choose the movie with the best soundtrack of all time I would have to go O Brother Where Art Thou

BoBo1946's avatar

@ucme apparently you never seen the movie….it’s a good one!

I’m with @Cruiser. I like The Sting song, too! Also, theme from Dr Zhivago (harpsicord?) and Sleepless in Seattle.
