What or indeed who, is your favourite bear?

“Great Question” (4points)

Now you may of course answer however you see fit, as always. More so as this is a pretty open forum as far as bears are concerned. Let me explain, your favourite bear could include a real life bear, grizzly, kodiak etc. Or maybe a cartoon bear, Winnie, Baloo & so forth. A bear from a movie tv show or a book. Hell, perhaps even a favourite cuddly cute little teddy bear that you own. So you see, any bear will do. You may begin…. the bear necessity being, have fun with it =)

Fozzie the bear, hands down! With Yogi second.
As for reality, Polar bears are so cute… I want to hug them and squeeze them and call them my best friend.

Grolar bears. You know, the grizzly/polar mix. I think they’re supposed to be super dangerous, but I like saying “grolar”. Although I’ve heard people call them “pizzly” bears before too, and I think that just sounds gross.
As for fictional bears, I used to like watching the Bear in the Big Blue House with my little brother. It was cute…

Panda’s!
Nothing cuter

diavolobella's avatar

Fictional bear: Pooh, but only the Shepherd illustration version, NOT the Disney one. Real life: Panda

My teddy bear is named “Edward ther Bear” after an exchange of dialogue from Milne’s Winnie-The-Pooh (“Don’t you know what a ther is?”). Fozzie the Bear, Paddington, and Rupert Bear aren’t too far behind.

crisw's avatar

@chyna

Pandas are not bears, though. Just so you know .

JLeslie's avatar

Hard to choose. Pooh and Yogi are up there at the top for me.

@Summum

That’s a kinkajou.

I am being a bio snob today :>), but also not a bear; it’s a member of the raccoon family.

Whab. Or Wahb. I forget how it was spelled.

@crisw
Wikipedia classifies panda’s as bears: source”:Classification
For many decades the precise taxonomic classification of the Giant Panda was under debate because it shares characteristics of both bears and raccoons.[36] However, molecular studies suggest that the Giant Panda is a true bear and part of the Ursidae family,[37][38] though it differentiated early in history from the main ursine stock. The Giant Panda’s closest ursine relative is the Spectacled Bear of South America.[39] The Giant Panda has been referred to as a living fossil.[40]

All the polar bear comments made me think of this clip from the quiz show QI. I love the vocal reaction to the comment made about polar bears.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Paddington or Yogi, but don’t like bear skin rugs.
My mother had a picture of me bare on a bear skin rug at age one. It got into the high school year book some how ! !

This bear however, takes the biscuit.

Smokey Bear. When I see him I know I’m near a state forest. State forests are my favorite spots to visit here in the states.

Also, Little Bear. He reminds me of cuddle time with my children.
