Here’s three generations of data for your study.
My parents are both gone but they drank very little. When they went out socially they might have one. I remember they kept a beer in the refrigerator in case we had guests. It sat there forever. They had liquor, again for guests, that sat at least 30 years in a cabinet in the living room until I had to clean out the house. I never had the desire to steal any when I was a kid and clearly they never had the desire to drink it. Alcohol was for guests.
I will have on average 1 to 2 glasses of wine per week to be sociable. Now that I think about it, that estimate is too high. I have not had any alcohol since the one glass of champagne during New Years and the time before that was Thanksgiving. I do enjoy going to wine tasting events. Two per year.
I have one son who never drinks and another who has one beer per night.
