Something to consider might be to smoke some good quality herb, and see if you are able to use this to process something that’s “up” for you right now. Maybe not some super big trauma (but maybe), and notice what that’s like for you.
I used to get high just to get high, and now I find that a small amount of herb really helps me “drop in” to process through things. I find that being in a quiet space, maybe with chill music, maybe without, and stretching or doing things that get me in my body really work well for me. I pretty much can’t smoke without “dropping in” nowadays, which i think is great. I generally think altered states should be entered into with intention and not done casually.
Anyhow, herb could be a good way to find out how you process, and to get your bearings in dropping into things and processing them, before going for something big like that. It seems like you have an intuition about using DMT to get through some big stuff in your life, and I would certainly pay attention to that, and it also doesn’t mean you have to jump in to the deep end of the pool before wading around a bit with your floaties in the kiddie pool. = )
