Of course not.

I’m with @12Oaks . No. The world is not going to come to an end. Not today anyway.

SpatzieLover's avatar

No. It’s been through a lot and keeps on turning.

The world won’t, but Civilization may well. It’s impossible to predict with any real confidence because there are just too many variables, known and unknown, interacting with one another. But between Climate Change, Species Extinction, Pollution and waste buildup, Resource Depletion (Oil and other fossil fuels in particular) and the increasing destructiveness of modern weaponry, it seems to me we are at the very least headed for some very precarious times.

It’s going to end the day I die.

crisw's avatar

No, although I laughed at all of the billboards that sprouted p all over town lately stating that the world will end on May 12th…

@Latina1486, what exactly do you mean “so many things happening?”

When haven’t lots of things been happening?

Also, is there a particular end of the scenario you are referring to? Are we talking Terminator 2 or the book of Revelation? One seems a lot more likely than the other.

Lightlyseared's avatar

Yes. These are the end of days!!!! The earth torn asunder, fire and brimstone (and radioactive stuff) raining down from the sky, cats and dogs living together…

laureth's avatar

Things end every day. And new things begin. Ever it is thus.

One day the world will end in a blinding super nova when our sun explodes in it’s dying seconds, in the immortal words of DR Carl Sagan, which I love to repeat “ THE WORLD WILL BECOME TOAST” and if at that time there are any humans around, which I personally very much doubt…… will be crispy critters. :-/ marshmallow anybody?

coffeenut's avatar

Ya….Ya….Ya…. Give me a break….It’s on my “To do” list…So I’m a little behind, but don’t worry I’ll get around to it.

cockswain's avatar

I think the Earth is going to explode on Tuesday. Probably because of Obama.

The world itself won’t end, although parts of it, such as us, will eventually fade away. Well I guess the planet forcibly will have to end some day, but I don’t think anyone is gonna be there to die with it, I guess unless we get smoked by some huge ass meteorite or something?

But yeah, stuff like 2012 and all, meh.

cockswain's avatar

I don’t know man…2012…the Mayan calendar…seems clear to me what’s gonna happen.

Oh, and this

coffeenut's avatar

@cockswain…...so it that going to be the new rickroll’D thing?

SpatzieLover's avatar

@coffeenut Affirmative. Apparently in Fluther

cockswain's avatar

funny you should say that, since I had the same thought and emailed my brother this a couple minutes ago.

The world ends every day for many thousands of people. Try not to be one of them.

Have a nice weekend, but be careful!

Aster's avatar

No; but with what will actually happen you’d better have food stored up and water purifiers.

ucme's avatar

I hope not, I haven’t had my supper yet :¬(

KateTheGreat's avatar

Absolutely not. If you’ve noticed, over the years there have been so many ploys to make humanity think that they will expire soon. These “end of days” prophecies and ideas are usually concocted to earn money. Humans have been predicting the last days for years. I’m pretty positive that this is not an exception.

wundayatta's avatar

My dear, you are late to the party. The world ended several Thursdays ago. You just think it’s still here.

ragingloli's avatar

Yes. Jesus will return and commence his kingdom of terror.
May his reign last days.
And his death years.

Jeruba's avatar

No, not at all.

lewispratt's avatar

Well if it does at least all that student debt i’ve accumulated will end with it….unless student finance has a branch in the afterlife…..which is pretty likely :(

WasCy's avatar

Let’s put it this way: The world could end at any minute, really. But I’m still keeping up with my mortgage and insurance premiums, and trying to get to work every day and stay on my boss’ good side. Because it probably won’t end any time soon.

wundayatta's avatar

And even if were to end tomorrow, would you do anything different? Does knowing you no longer need to plan for the future change you that much?

crisw's avatar

@wundayatta

“Does knowing you no longer need to plan for the future change you that much?”

It does, if you are one of the nutjobs who believes the world will end May 21.

WasCy's avatar

Another way of look at this, of course, is that at the “End of the World” everything stops happening. As long as things are still happening, then it’s not The End yet.

If you see heavenly End Credits rolling, then duck and cover.
