What's your favourite breakfast?

Mine’s an open-faced sandwich with:
– a hearty bread, like whole grain or dark rye, toasted
– fried egg
– fried or roast tomato, or a tomato spread (or roast tomato-olive spread, even better!)
– lots of fried spinach
– thin slice of a hard, sharp cheese (like parmesan or extra-old cheddar)
– sprinkling of fresh-ground pepper and sea salt

I wouldn’t want to eat this every day but it’s my favourite special breakfast. Anyone I make it for loves it too. Does it sound good to you? What’s your favourite breakfast?

Everything in a platter: Bacon, eggs, pancakes, potatoes etc.

This:

Put some water in your pan to boil and add a little salt.
Peel two to three potatoes, cut them into bite-sized chunks and toss them in the water.
While the potatoes are boiling chop 1 clove of garlic as finely as you can.
Cut ⅓ of an onion into bite-sized chunks.
Cut about a handfull of fresh cilantro as finely as possible.
Cut up any other veggies (peppers, asparagus, olives, etc.) that you might want to add. Put all of the above into a bowl and set them aside.
Chop tomatoes into bite-sized chunks and set them aside separately. (I usually chop grape tomatoes in half).
When potatoes are soft enough to eat (but hopefully not quite soft enough to mash) take them off the heat and drain the water.
Add olive oil to coat and all the veggies except for the tomatoes to the pan and return to heat. Stir until evenly distributed.
Add Lowry’s Seasoned salt to taste, a little more chili powder than you think you shoud, and a bit of ground black pepper to the mix.
Stir until evenly mixed and cook until the onions are ready.
Mix in tomatoes and cook for a minute or two until they have warmed.
Remove pan from heat and shred havarti cheese over top as desired.
Eggs – just cook over easy with a little pepper on top. Try to leave the yolk somewhat soft.
Put the potato mixture on your plate.
When the eggs are done put them on top of the potatoes on your plate, cut them up letting the yolk run out and mix everything together. Then eat!!

If I can’t get that, Huevos Rancheros.

If I can’t get that, a waffle with an egg on top.

If I can’t get that, I am happy with Captain Crunch.

Hash browns on the bottom. Fried eggs with tomatoes, onions, peppers, sausage, and bacon on top. A slathering of cheddar and American cheese topping. Wheat bread dripping with butter on the side. Salt covering it all, with plenty of coffee on the side.

Makes me wonder what those who think it’s their business to limit my caloric intake thinks about that. I tell her to shove it up her big, fat, ugly you know what!!

Fresh caught walleye, grilled in a foil pouch with some lemon zest, butter and pepper.
Scrambled eggs, cornbread cooked in the dutch oven, and camp coffee.

@12Oaks Eek – I don’t care about calories, but American cheese? Meaning, processed cheese? Well, to each their own. The rest of it sounds awesome for sure!

I recently started putting yogurt on waffles, which is fantastic in its simplicity! It also doubles as a dessert, too, especially if you add ice cream and other good things to the mix.

These are a few of my favorite things:

Huevos Rancheros

Pancakes with 2 eggs over easy, home fries and wheat toast

Home made biscuits with butter and orange marmalade

Strawberry waffles with whipped cream

Fried egg, melted cheddar cheese, fake bacon on a biscuit (A Fake McMuffin)

Kellog’s Raisin Bran with really cold milk and a glass of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

A glazed donut from a mom and pop donut shop with a carton (not a plastic container) of really cold milk

At home I’ll have oatmeal or Lucky Charms if I’ve chosen not to skip breakfast.

At a restaurant I always order the same thing: 2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, white toast and hot chocolate.

@12Oaks You know what is ironic? I love to cook and I cook all the time, but I have never actually made huevos rancheros at home, I always get them at a restaurant (one Mexican restaurant by my house make the best ones ever). Now you’ve got me thinking that I should give it a go!

Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day. Never skip it, and if I didn’t have to count calories, I would have:
2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, pancakes, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, or
french toasts with bacon or sausage
eggs benedicte
english muffins with lots of butter and tea
cheese and mushroom omelette

Oatmeal (the real kind, that takes an hour to cook) with banana. Plus a vente Starbucks.

Potatoes sauted in butter and onions.
A sunny side up egg.
1 slice of texas toast buttered
1 cup of cappachino (or at least really good coffee sweeten with sweet condensed milk and italian cream)
3 slices of lean bacon (done perfectly- not too crispy and not too rubbery)
4 oz of pinapple juice
or better yet, freshly cut up pineapple slices. Especially good if the pineapple was let warmed up slightly in the sun. Yum!

My favourite is a full English breakfast, but I’d also enjoy a Southern sort of a breakfast of grits with red gravy, buttermilk biscuits and peach preserves, salmon croquettes and scrambled eggs.

Oh, and coffee with cream and sugar.

I don’t eat either too often (or too much cream and sugar), or I’d be house-shaped.

Driving to IHOP at 4AM while I’m in labor, and wolfing down a huge plate of T-Bone Steak and Eggs with double hashbrowns and a side of sausage, with Tabasco on all of it.

Aside from that: my hubby’s family makes what they call “Campfire Surprise”. You throw about 4 extra large (or 6 medium), diced potatoes into a huge skillet. When the potatoes are getting soft, you toss in about ¾ cup of finely chopped onion. When the onion is getting soft, you toss in 1 package of smoked sausage, cut into slices. When the edges of the sausage start to brown, you toss in about 8 large eggs, and scramble the whole thing up. At the very end, you toss in half a jar of jalapenos. Feeds about 4–6 people, depending on appetites. =0) Om nom nom.

Omelette, American English Muffin, and Bacon.

The Omellette usually has green pepper, onion, mushroom and cheese, but at times I make others. Sometimes ham, onion, and cheese. Or, cubes of bread in the egg and mozerella.

I also love love french toast. Regular old white sandwich bread soaked with egg, and fried. No milk added, I hate when it is soggy, I like it cooked well all the way through. Sometimes maple syrup, sometimes sugar. bacon on the side is an extra treat.

some days I crave a half head of organic lettuce but most days I’d rather have that taters and eggs breakfast with @Jude

@nicobanks That sandwich sounds delicious! I want one so bad.

My favorites:

Granola with milk, run it through the microwave, throw some walnuts, diced apples, and raisins on there.

Veggie omlette with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, garlic, and tomatoes. Toast and more fresh tomatoes on the side.

Diced apples or strawberries with almond butter, granola, and honey in a whole wheat wrap.

Greek yogurt and a piece of fruit.

Or, if I’m late to work, frantically chugging a diet coke and chomping on a protein bar while speeding and cutting off other drivers.

Mmm, good question.
If I’m feeling hungry then I’ll have a good English breakfast: Beans, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, eggs on toast, bacon.
If I’m feeling not so hungry, then I’ll have either Brioche rolls or Croissants with a nice cup of coffee.
