I was making my funeral playlist in my head today, you know, just in case.

“A Tout Le Monde” by Megadeth. Good question @noelleptc :)

The guitar instrumental “St. Louis Tickle,” played by Dave Van Ronk. There should also be some terrific classical pieces that I haven’t decided on yet, but if you’re planning my funeral on short notice, just put “St. Louis Tickle” on a loop and you’re good.

- anything off of Surfa Rosa, Pixies
– anything off of The Moon and Antarctica, Modest Mouse
– anything by Neutral Milk Hotel
– anything off of Land of Rape and Honey, Ministry
– Black Monk Theme, The Fall

(actually, this is just stuff I am in the mood for now.)

“The Voyage” during the procession for the intrumental, and “When You’re A Free Man”, both by The Moody Blues, while my ashes are being spread.

Another One Bites the Dust- Queen.
I’ve had that picked out since I was 11.
And of course the song that was played at my grandma’s funeral, Let It Be- The Beatles.

Although subjecting my survivors to an hour of my favorite tunes would be a delightful form of posthumous revenge, I’d be posthumously happy if all they played was Who Wants to Live Forever?, by Queen. ;-)

I will not have a funeral. Unnecessary costs.

Off the top of my head: Pavanne for a Dead Princess; Sunken Cathedral; the final trio and then duet from Rosencavalier. You know what? I’d better get down to business and make that list while I still have at least half my wits about me. I don’t want a funeral in the first place, but there can’t be any kind of party, memorial, or whatever without music. And there is so much music I love. I’ll put it on my todo list.

The other night I watched a wonderful 2007 documentary about Pete Seeger, who is truly one of my heroes. It ended with his song ‘To My Old Brown Earth.’ I think that would be a great choice.

BeckyKytty's avatar

Wow, great songs. And unique also!

I got your message
The reason I didn’t see your choices is it wasn’t in with your question, it was in with answers.
Yes, I had read them but didn’t see it was you in the answer column. Kinda illogical if you ask me…

;-)

Thanx for answering me Luv!

Peace

@BeckyKytty, was that meant to be a private message (PM) to someone?

I don’t want any songs played other than some random instrumentals. I’ve been with far too many friends who cannot listen to a song now without crying because they had someone who had that song at their funeral. I wouldn’t like that to happen because of me.
