@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I don’t think bottled water is a scam. I’ve lived in NY, FL, and CA, and I’ve never tasted municipal water that tasted better than bottled. But if you can’t taste a difference then good for you. And I’ve tried giving it a chance, b/c I’m cheap, so I don’t want to spend the $ if I don’t have to.
Also, just because tap is regulated doesn’t mean it’s the best to drink. In Beverly Hills I put a cup of tap water down and forgot about it. A few hours later I picked it up and there was black sediment at the bottom. To ensure it wasn’t something else, I filled another cup and did it again. I now live in Broward County Florida. We just got over a warning to stick to bottled water b/c the municipal tested positive for e.coli. First of all, how long were we drinking it before they tested for e.coli. Secondly, you know what their solution was? Dump gallons of chlorine in the water to kill the e.coli. How do I know? I tried it today after a few days on the bottled, and I immediately spit it out. It tasted like I was drinking pool water. How many THOUSANDS of gallons of bleach did they have to pour in at the treatment facility for that taste to make it to the West-most side of town?!?!?!
It’s also about convenience. I pay $0.35 per gallon of water for my five gallon drums and I always have freezing cold, filtered water available. I can’t get my tap to spit out water that cold on command!
P.S. The only tap I’ve tasted better than bottled was from North Carolina. And the best water I’ve had I drank straight from a stream in NC. Now THAT was fresh. (Probably had animal dookie in it! LOL)
