Indecent on your own property?

“Great Question” (3points)

I like to get up early in the morning and go surf. When I get back I like to take an outdoor shower and sit outside for a little while. Sometimes naked others in a towel. My neighbor just took down their shrubs in the back yard exposing my yard to the opposite street. Can I get an indecent exposure on my own property?

Yes. You can even get one standing in your front door, or having your windows open.

Yes. The fact that your physical body is on your own private property does not mean you can let it all hang out, if others can see you, without climbing or ladders or using a spyglass.

Wear a towel.

Time to build a fence.

It may depend upon where you live. Check your local laws.

According to @FluffyChicken I guess so.

I live in a secluded house on 5 acres. I am naked a LOT around here. lol
I too ‘shower’ in my garden hose before getting in my hot tub, wander around naked watering and am naked in my house a lot too.

Total bullshit, I’m just glad the only neighbors I have are, literally, neigh-bors.

The worst that can happen is I cause a stampede of horseflesh or, an accident that would have me caught with my pants down.

I also pee outside a lot. hahaha

Aaaaah…the joys of privacy!

Plant some shrubs on your side!!!

Coloma's avatar

Yes, plant Bamboo…instant privacy fence in about a year when it fills in!

My hot tub faces the back of my neigh-bors barn about 150 yards up the hill throguh the trees and I do have a bunch of exotic grasses and bamboos staggered around in the rare event my neigh-bors owners are behind their barn, which rarely happens.

Yes. See above about planting shrubs or putting up a fence.
In fact, see @Coloma. I somehow suspect she may have direct knowledge of the issue.

I have accidently flashed the UPS guy a few times, no complaints. lol
If I plan on a lengthy stretch of naked wandering I close my ranch gate. That way nobody is surprised. haha

Yes. We had a local elderly man who liked to do his yard work without any clothes on. He was arrested several times for this.

Of course you can. Indecent exposure is when you expose yourself to someone. Where you are when you do the exposing is irrelevant. That’s like asking if you can still be arrested for murder if you shoot someone who’s standing across the street while inside your own house, aiming the gun out the window.

Well..in my opinion if you don’t want to look at your naked neighbor, then don’t. lol

Obviously we are not talking exhibitionist stuff here, but IMO taking into account I have not lived in a neighborhood for the last 20 years of course but, if one’s neighbor is occasionally naked just look away. Pretty simple. ;-)

If I know my neighbor likes to come back from surfing and take a little outdoor shower and sit down in his birthday suit to commune with his nakedness…well, I’d honor his right and go busy myself with something else for a few minutes.

This world, everyone always wanting to control others. Bah! Live and let live.

So, Coloma, in your opinion, someone who doesn’t want to see genitalia hanging out in the open should walk down the street with their head down, eyes pointed straight at the ground? No one was going to this guy’s house looking for his junk.

Hibernate's avatar

Yes you can receive a notice or a written complain from some people. It sucks to be you since there’s no more “fence” blocking the view.

@MrItty

How’d we segue into walking down the street? lol

Besides, IF I was walking and caught a glimpse of a naked person in their house or yard, I would just look away. If I didn’t then I would be a voyeur. haha

Occasional seeing your neighbor naked because they are dong their own thing on their own property is not the same as a chronic exhibitionist flashing the neighborhood wives and kiddies.

Obviously if someone desires to be naked ALL the time they might wish to consider moving to a naturist community.

I am simply saying that if someone wishes to be naked on their own property and they are not of a perverted nature, I take no issue.

When I lived in the city I had neighbors that swam naked in their pool all the time, I could catch a glimpse of them on the diving board and floating around once in awhile. It never crossed my mind to complain.

Coloma's avatar

Haha…anyone catch my freudian slip?

“DONG their own thing?”—LOL

Anyhoo..I think it’s healthy to let a little sunshine shine on those places where it never does.
Airing out the parts is a good thing. haha

I have a neighbor who likes to walk naked in the garden before and after his sauna. And while there is growing ivy on his side he prunes it very low. Not very agreable and it always surprises me when I see his whole business hang when I am doing my dishes in my kitchen . I have talked to him abut it but nothing changed. I did not put a complaint to the police, for me that is one step to far, but I did planted in my garden a hedge that next year will be high enough so that I do no longer have to look at my neighbour’s chimes. For me, this issue is not so much about fines or complaints for indecent behavior but about common courtecy and being polite. If you know you can be seen naked on your property, then you make a fence out of respect for your neighbors and any passers-by.

I have tanned naked in my back yard.
