Has anyone read the book "How to Analyze People on Sight"? Is this a gimmick or is it accurate?

Just wondering, it seems to have been a popular book, but the reviews aren’t helpful.

I have no read it, but I believe it is possible. I don’t know if I can do it on sight, but I know I can do it if I see someone move—preferably by dancing with them.

You can tell a lot by the personal space someone needs, and by the amount of eye contact them make. The expansiveness of their movements; the way they talk; the way they walk. How they hold themselves.

I’m not sure if there is a formula for these things. I’d have to read the book to see if I agreed with their method.

I haven’t read this one yet, but have heard good things about What Every BODY is saying

I’ve had good reading experiences from books written by ex-FBI/ex-Gov’t agents. If you look at the link, you’ll see it’s a top seller and well rated book. I have it on my wish list ;)

EDIT: Yes, I think body language tells a LOT about people. If you can learn it and apply it, you’ll definitely be able to notice liars, and when people are anxious-etc.

Never read it, but I agree and have done some studying on body language. I always notice when someone has their arms folded across their chest as a “protective” non-open signal. I’m strong on the eye contact too. Being able to make direct eye contact is a huge sign that someone is open and has nothing to hide. Also looks, touching and certain gestures that might indicate lying.

Of course, all of this can be canceled out if you’re a sociopath. lol

I don’t need a book… I was born with that very sucky ability. The sucky part about it is… Having to believe people anyway just to have them around knowing they are mostly completely full of it.

*Yeah, I don’t do that much anymore.

I’m NOT saying there aren’t any real people in the world, just not the majority and I certainly haven’t met one yet in my life.

There are similar books much better than this one.

You may be able to see when someone is down, anxious or avoidant but you can never really know why until you get to know them a bit better. I prefer to get to know people I am interested in regardless of their body language.

@GabrielsLamb I have a guess about how you inhabit physical space. You remind me of someone I met recently. I wonder if you two behave the same way. Too bad I’ll never find ouit.
