I think it depends on what the younger people and I are doing as to whether it makes me feel old. In business, I am constantly talking with resource people who are younger than I. A lot younger, like my kids’ ages, or even younger. I never feel old with them. I feel like we are all about the same age (just my perception, of course). However, if it turns from business during the day to dinner and drinks in the evening, I feel much older. I just want to go home or get back to the room if I’m traveling. Peace and quiet. But it could be I’ve always been that way.
If I am around my kids, especially my son, who is quite considerate of me, I tend to feel older. I enjoy his attention and consideration, but also makes me want to arm wrestle him just to prove something. Haven’t tried that yet.
If I am around people who are quite a bit older and perhaps in declining health, then I feel younger.
