It’s already here . . . it’s direct download to your hard drive through outlets like iTunes, Amazon, etc.
These outlets are also ramping up “cloud” storage, like Amazon who gives you a few gigs free storage on their sites, and Apple’s new iCloud.
The goal is that you can buy media (including movies) anywhere at any time, and eventually stream it anywhere at any time, because it’s not in a format that you have to physically carry or store yourself!
I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet . . .
It’s gaining traction quickly, but there are still too many people who need to have something tangible (i.e. a DVD disc) when they pay for something. But the next generation won’t have a problem with it at all (is my guess, since it’s already becoming quite popular).
