Are the sappy, silly holiday movies just for the holidays, or do they happen all the time and I have not noticed?

It seems this holiday season I can barely stand TV. It seem there are so many sappy, cutesy, happy ever after movies it is sickening. How many times in life have you heard or witnessed on a personal level of someone having a good ending? They got reunited with the relative they always hoped to fine, they can save the homestead, or home in the nick of time, they get the love they lost, or passed up on years ago, bla, bla, for sappy bla, bla. Do they have these sappy movies all year long and I have not noticed them (thank heavens), or do they bring them out in force during the holidays to try to bamboozle someone into having good spirits?

I think they play them specially over the Holidays, like a theme. Otherwise you have all kinds playing all year long.

There are more in the November/December time frame than the rest of the year, although Lifetime and Hallmark (and to a degree) play that mindless feel-good crap sporadically through the year.

What bugs me is that some channels (AMC being one) have been playing the same junk 2x a night for 2–3 nights in a row.

Maybe we need to rename this holiday “Splenda” because all the movies are overly sweet.

I am recovering from a rather serious accident that occurred on Thanksgiving day. My wife is also having some problems and this is the first year ever in our 46 years of marriage that we haven’t done a thing for Christmas. No presents, decorations, or fancy cooking. I have mostly avoided television and the sappy Christmas stories, they just make me feel worse. I did watch a Black Christmas with Lewis Black. His sarcasm helped a bit. All I have to do is live past New Years and I’m home free.

That sounds like just about every American action movie I’ve ever seen lol.
