I went to the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, with my parents. I was about 22 years old. It was one of the most memorable things I’ve done in my life. Not only because of the memories I have of doing this with my parents, but because of the things we saw.
This was the year King Tutankamun’s artifact’s and mummified body when on tour. We stood in line to see this. The Chinese pavillion with its artistries was fabulous. We stayed the weekend in neighboring Gatlinburg, Tenn., and went for three days and still didn’t get to see everything there was to see.
Yes, by all means go. Don’t pass up a chance to do things like this in your life. Especially with your children. Regardless of their ages, I say go with them. All of my siblings and I were grown and/or married at the time. My dad and mom made the effort to take us separately or in groups to see the World’s Fair while it was so close to home that year. I bet they must taken five groups of us at separate times for two or three days at a time. I’ll never forget it.
Good stuff, @zenvelo.
