If its not a lifestyle, then there is no need in it. At least in my religion. I think religion is always going to be around. Even the early recorded civilizations had religion.
Until science can explain anything and everything, faith will always have a place in humanity. For it is science that satisfies man’s inherent curiosity, and it is faith that feeds it.
10 years is not that long. Religion will be the same, but probably newer and different beliefs. Hopefully we are more accepting of EVERYBODY…. But I might be asking for too much.
We need it less and less. Religion was created to explain things. The earliest civilizations didn’t understand light, rain, plants, life, death, and everything. They created these stories to explain that which astounded and fascinated them. As we explain more and more and as knowledge becomes more publicly available I believe (and hope) that we will have much more secular humanists popping up. The numbers are already increasing.
haha, Delirium… You really dislike religion. Hey, just to let you know I am
very into the secular humanist thing. Maybe I can be a catholic and believe that too? And I dont think we need it less and less. I think we just need more open minded people- that will accept more religions and beliefs.
I don’t dislike religion at all. I dislike the ignorance of many religious people. I actually really respect it (religion) for what it is. The study of theology and mythology is one of the most interesting fields in my world.
If you can believe that, go for it. I don’t mind religion in people’s private lives. But it shouldn’t be in the public world.
okay, I understand. I dislike the ignorance as well; I really do. I guess I just didnt agree with you that we need it less and less. And I actually researched secular humanism after you brought it up in another thread a while back and found it
fascinating.. I guess from what I’ve seen of what feedback you give on religions; is that you must deal with a lot of ignorant people
