I don’t. I just let them flow. I realize I can’t control my mind. It will think what it thinks. However, I can do something about which thoughts I pay attention to. I let stupid thoughts go. Sometimes I will laugh at them because they are so absurd. Then I thank my mind for the good laugh, and let the thought float away, while I turn my mind to other things.
Second, if I do dwell on a stupid thought, I realize it is for entertainment. If I am making myself sweat with fear, I figure it is because I want to experience fear sweat. People do, you know. They go to movies to get that feeling. But I (or you) don’t even have to go to movies. You can make it happen inside your head. For free. So think of all the money you are saving every time you have these thoughts. I’m serious.
There are people who would kill to faint. People who love the adrenaline rush of fear. So when your mind does that, before you let the thoughts go, spend a second gloating that you don’t have to pay for these stress feelings like most people do. Feel them. Faint. Let them go.
But you can’t overwhelm it. That won’t work. You must be gentle with yourself. Stop fighting it. Let those thoughts go. Fighting them makes them stronger. Feeling them and letting them go takes their power away. Especially when you realize how much money you are saving. LOL!
