I’m so fed up with this foolishness.
First, Mr. Tsarnaev hasn’t been convicted of any crime, nor can he be charged or put on trial. He’ll forever be the “alleged bomber.” This is true regardless of all the photographs and video footage.
Second, convicted criminals—even the most heinous people who serve life sentences—are buried.
Third, imagine how painful this must be for Mr. Tsarnaev’s daughter, and other family members, who had nothing to do with the bombings and are innocent of any wrongdoings.
Fourth, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is paying tens of thousands of dollars per day to secure the funeral home where Mr. Tsarnaev’s body is being kept.
Health care professionals triage patients; they provide treatment according to need, not by subjective choices about who is and isn’t “worthy.” That’s the only way to practice medical care. The same should be true of burials.
