I have no idea how much it costs to ship a car but if you both would like to drive your vehicles, there is another affordable method you might wish to consider
I used a company called UPack to ship my stuff. The reason its affordable is because you pack your own things into a trailer (a huge full sized one) which they drop off in your driveway.
After you load it up you call them. They come and get it. A wooden divider wall is put up and you are charged only for the square footage that you actually use and no more.
They then drive it to a point close to where you are moving (not yet to your exact street number) and when you arrive, you call them and the trailer is then dropped off at the address you specify.
After unloading, you call them and they pick up their now empty trailer.
The reason its so affordable is because after your stuff is loaded into the back of the trailer and the divider put up, the rest of the trailer is filled with commercial freight before going to your destination city.
It worked out well for me since I didn’t need to rent a UHaul trailer, not have the hassle of trying to drive that attached to my car long distance nor did I have to then drive it back to UHaul for drop off.
All I had to be responsible for was packing and unpacking. UPack took care of everything else.
I really don’t remember exactly how much I paid, but I do remember that it was the least expensive of all the methods I got quotes and mileage for.
I’m glad I chose them and would do it again if I ever had to move such a long distance again.
Give them a call and price it out to see if it might work for you.
