“Do it in one jump!”
Yelled to me as I was rappelling down an 80 foot cliff. I did not make it. As I flew into space I twisted around so that my feet were no longer facing the cliff face and, while frantically trying to correct the spin, crashed into the rock, impacting with my side and back at about 60 feet down only to slide the remaining 20 feet in a dazed, bruised and battered state.
BTW, an independent source states that: Goldline, like any twisted rope, suffered from partial untwisting when loaded, thus spinning the suspended climber Something I wish I had known before I tried
On the plus side, I never listened to anyones climbing or rappelling advice again and as a result am still alive today.
