If you have an orchard nearby, practice by throwing apples at trees. The splat sound is so satisfying.

The best way is to practice throwing tits and boobies (the birds you ninny). Just sayin…

Is this really necessary?

@LuckyGuy I may well try that, boost my core strength.

It’s a very different action than bowling in cricket, few ways of holding the ball in each sport.
Never really tried it before now, I can generate a fair amount of speed but the accuracy needs some work.

I thought you meant Badminton. That’s why I suggested practicing with the birdies.

ucme's avatar

@Dan_Lyons I hate that game, the flight of the shuttlecock is so frustrating, more finesse than power.

Strauss's avatar

You might want to experiment with different grips. And then here are some pitching drills.

ucme's avatar

@Yetanotheruser Yeah, thanks for that, loads of different grips in cricket too, but a totally different throwing action.

Just when I think you run out of juice, you prove me wrong once again with a constant barrage of word games. Just how do you do it? :D And I don’t just mean this question, you’re a pro at this lol.

Also I want a cricket hammer.

ucme's avatar

@Symbeline Well gee golly gosh, thank you kindly maam :D

Berserker's avatar

I was going to make a word joke too…hmm, if this gets modded…it will be…IT’S OUTTA THERE!! lol

ucme's avatar

She hits it outta the park!

Kardamom's avatar

Maybe you should try juggling your balls.

ucme's avatar

@Kardamom Not technically juggling with only two, maybe for a pawnbroker.

Strauss's avatar

@ucme I once heard it from a professional juggler that the most important thing is to keep two in the air!

ucme's avatar

@Yetanotheruser Yeah, I heard that, handstand maybe?

Berserker's avatar

Lol…mental pictures.

Strauss's avatar

@ucme many acrobatic possibilities!

ucme's avatar

Indeed
Enough of this testicular tomfoolery, this was a serious baseball practice question, knew I shoulda asked in general ;-}

Berserker's avatar

Testicular tomfoolery, lol yo. XD

Strauss's avatar

If I’m not mistaken, I think a major difference between a cricket ball and a baseball, other than size, is the stitching. I played a lot of “sandlot” ball when I was a kid, and I remember the type of “spin” that was put on the ball would affect not only the curve of the pitch, but also the way the ball reacted when it was hit by the bat.

Berserker's avatar

I thought cricket balls kind of looked like pool balls. Made out of ceramic or some other hard material.

Berserker's avatar

…I said hard.

ucme's avatar

@Yetanotheruser Yeah, bowlers in cricket will rub the ball to a shine on one half of the ball to gain swing, a major weapon in getting wickets.
@Symbeline They’re very hard balls that’s for sure.

Strauss's avatar

@Symbeline What, you wanna play hardball?!

Berserker's avatar

@ucme Wasn’t there a question on here a while back about someone wanting to become a cricketer so they could rub the balls? I forget exactly what this was about…prolly just ETPro being a perv again. XD Or maybe it was me, I forget lol.

@Yetanotheruser Nooooo, don’t make me bawl!

ucme's avatar

@Symbeline I think it was old ET yeah, polishing balls was his forte :D

Berserker's avatar

Aaah good ol ETPro…I wonder what he would think if he knew that every time we’re talking about him it’s always because of something naughty lol. He’d probably be proud, is what I like to think.
