Depends. I’m perfectly fine letting dishes pile up and windows become opaque. As soon as someone is depending on me, however – yes. I have pretty high standards, I think…and if I don’t live up to my standards, I obsess quite a bit.
Recently, I added up all the time I’m spending on various “obligations” * in any given week. I ended up with 111 hours. There are 168 hours in a week, and I only spend 112 of them awake – that leaves exactly one hour, which was a shock to me.
* “Obligations” used lightly. I included work hours, but also things like walking the dog and spending time with people I worry about. I don’t consider most of these occupations “work”. They are not true free time, either, though, so writing them down really opened my eyes. I highly recommend it if you ever wonder where all your time goes.
