Fantastic Mr. Fox. I watched it after ragingloli said something positive about it, actually. I should have loved it, since I love everything Wes Anderson has ever done and read the book till the spine fell apart back when I was a kid. But, no. I think part of it was an inability to stop mentally picturing George Clooney whenever Mr. Fox spoke. The other thing that bothered me was how Wes Anderson-y the Fox-verse was. I love Anderson’s style, but found it kind of oppressive and over the top in this movie. It felt like he co-opted Dahl’s world rather than recreated it. And how the young fox could suddenly be an athlete after he had a heart-to-heart with his dad? Gag me with a spoon, that extra little plot was so not necessary. Dahl always avoided that sort of sentimental tripe.
Also, Frozen. That movie super-sucked. I checked it out because I usually like kid movies and because I have a friend who is an eleven year old girl. But the plot’s premise made no sense to me and it all went downhill from there. It’s like they decided to mash a lot of tropes together with some terrible songs. And there were like zero jokes or references in there for adults. Bobcat Goldthwaite should have been the voice of the snowman, at least.
