“A rolling stone gathers no moss”
Yeah, have you seen the state of Mick Jagger?

“Live each day like it’s your last.”

I hate this saying. No one actually does that.

If you masturbate too much, you go blind.
I do not see how that could be true.

Bros before hoes.

“Stay positive”

“Reality of the situation.”
I’m sorry, were we ever discussing the theoretical aspects of the situation?

“Yeah, but…”

“Hang in there.”
Doesn’t make someone feel any better and what choice do you have anyway? Hang in there or shoot yourself in the head. lol

ibstubro's avatar

I’ve never heard “Bros before hoes” before, @Blondesjon. What does it mean, or what context?

That one hadn’t occured to me, @dxs, but you’re right.

Coloma, baby.

Great answers, everyone!

“Be careful!” No, really, I plan to be deliberately reckless as I drive home/ carry something fragile/ walk across an icy parking lot/ use a sharp knife/ pour hot wax. It’s even more annoying if I have stubbed my toed or something like that. Because, yeah, telling me to be careful after the fact is so very helpful.

trailsillustrated's avatar

“Does that make sense?” Asked frequently after they’ve said something. Oh shut up, I’m going.

Coloma's avatar

@tedibear Oh YES..I HATE being told to “drive carefully”..WTF!

ibstubro's avatar

I hear people say that ATF all the time, @tedibear! If said to me I’ve been known to mumble, “that was my plan and now you’ve ruined it for me.”

Nancy Reagan, @trailsillustrated, “Just say no.” lol

I understand there’s only one life to live, but some people use Carpe Diem and YOLO as an excuse to screw your life away lol.

@ragingloli Blind no, but you may just end up with hair on your palms.

Don’t ever argue with adults! Like I’m a brainless sheep or something?

I was (and still is) told by many adults, mostly the one with “authorities”.

dxs's avatar

Oh! Oh! Oh! I forgot:
“Everything happens for a reason.”
Blech.

“Shit happens”

I happen to be a fervent believer of this but that doesn’t mean I don’t get tired of hearing it

@ibstubro Actually my favorite version of the saying mentioned in the initial question is:

If all your friends were eating shit on a stick would you want some too?

ZEPHYRA's avatar

“Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life” Hogwash, what about yeterday and the day we were born?!

sahID's avatar

“Have a nice day.”

Seemingly everyone says it because it is the socially acceptable thing to say. However, has anyone ever defined what “a nice day” really is? Besides, what if someone wants to have (or is already having) a completely horrible, awful, dysfunctional day?

yankeetooter's avatar

It is what it is. ..
