Please clarify what you are talking about.

@ucme lmao :D

Well, it does seem like there are questions, then answers, then a lot of @‘s after that. Sometimes it does seem to devolve.

dappled_leaves's avatar

I’m going to guess, since no one can figure out what the OP is talking about, that the answer is “No.”

For starters, devolve is not the opposite of evolve.

When people misuse this word, they often think of it as a negative evolutionary change. Like, if humans got dumber, they would call it devolving. But this is incorrect. Here is what devolve actually means:

1. To pass on or delegate to another: The senator devolved the duties of office upon a group of aides.

2. To be passed on or transferred to another: The burden of proof devolved upon the defendant. The estate devolved to an unlikely heir.

3 To degenerate or deteriorate gradually: After several hours the discussion had devolved into a shouting match.

I am wondering if the OP meant “Does Fluther have to degenerate or deteriorate gradually?” It would be nice if he would add some details to his question to clarify.

It would.

I understood it the way I described it from what I knew of the definition of “devolve” (which was example #3) but maybe he meant something more.

I don’t really understand why, since the OP is everpresent on Fluther and not just a flash in the pan, he hasn’t come back to clarify. Why ask the question then? We got silly after requesting clarification and not getting it.

jca's avatar

I pm’d the OP and asked him to come back and clarify.

I assume this is just one of many question the OP has asked in order to opine that “Fluther is dead.” In other words, it is not a question at all.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@dappled_leaves Yet even the dead can devolve further, and the “will” makes this a question about the future of the “corpse”.
