Any product being peddled during an infomercial, especially after midnight.

How about NAFTA and trickle down economics. Then there’s the big lie that the banks and Wall st. are overregulated, or the profit motive guarantees cheaper and better health care. The world is a better place due to our bloated military budget. The nation is more secure if the government knows when you pick your nose. Environmental measures (like the environment itself) are merely excuses to hinder business. Then there’s the claim that there might be some intellectual aspect to mainstream conservatism. The shrinkage of the middle class and enfeeblement of unions are unrelated coincidences. We are better off now that a necessary education requires the assumption of a mountain of debt. There are no negatives involved with a nation defined by crumbling infrastructure. And of course, the government has no business looking out for the poor. God will take care of it.

Anything said by spammers and random pop-up browsers on the Internet. Gosh I believed them as a child.

^^ Me too! lol

Really great answers above!
I’ve been apartment searching again, and I’ve learned to subconsciously filter out the spammers that claim to have $500/month rooms in luxury apartments downtown.

my inheritance

ibstubro's avatar

You get stiffed on your inheritance, @MooCows?

MooCows's avatar

No…my inheritance was a wonderful blessing!

ibstubro's avatar

“Too good to be true” usually implies that the anticipated outcome was realized? @MooCows.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I want one too @MooCows !

@ibstubro did you mean that the anticipated outcome was not realized?

Magical_Muggle's avatar

Harry Potter was NOT too good to be true.
And if you don’t love Harry Potter, fight me, I dare you XD
(I’m kidding, I hope you realised that, I don’t want to fight with you, you’re probably twice my height)

ibstubro's avatar

Sadly, @IheartMypuppy I have, literally, zero experience with Harry Potter.
TWICE? How tall are you?

Magical_Muggle's avatar

@ibstubro aww, you’ve got to be kidding me! HP is my life, that is something everyone should know
I am not that short, like 5“3/5“3 maybe? something like 160cm tall

Mimishu1995's avatar

@IheartMypuppy FYI, @ibstubro is old enough to be your father, so he has no interest in that kind of thing. And just because something is your life doesn’t mean everyone has to know.

ibstubro's avatar

I’ll get to the Potter books one day yet, @IheartMypuppy. Next time I see Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone I’ll pick it up. For a long time I thought they were only kid books, mistaking the popular appeal.

It’s all right, @Mimishu1995. We’re never too old to try new things. I just hadn’t given it a lot of thought.
