I don’t think there would be much said. It isn’t like the film is trying to find or make converts. It is a love story, with magic, and some hardships, but not any real focus on the mention of Allah.

I’ve never heard of any right or left wing hate for it. Not even a talon hate for it.

I think it’s a great question!
I do believe that there would be an entirely different reception of the film today. By many.
(Even though they did admit to creating Aladdin to look like Tom Cruise.)
Add a crowd of angry Scientologists to the mob! :)

I know more liberals who get annoyed with Disney, and that’s still just a fringe few.

I don’t think there would be many problems if it was released today. It’s still out there, and children still love it. I always say the first time I heard about the Middle East was watching I Dream of Jeannie. I think she was born in Baghdad. LOL.

Maybe some on the far Christian right wouldn’t like it? Or, just not run to take their kids to see the movie? I think that would be very few people though.

Can you imagine ISIS reaction? Even portraying the women without their head coverings- Or singing. Dancing. What an unhappy joyless feeling some may feel.
Oh jeeze. A fatwah ( sp?) on Walt Disney. Poor Micky- caught by association! :/

At the time of its release, it drew a lot of criticism from the far right, Christian, and anti-hate groups.
I think it would receive the same response now.
