What's the term for a long word that's made up of two shorter ones?

There is also portmanteau words which blend two words into one like smoke + fog = smog

^ That term I had floating around in my tired mind, but the simple term for two words joined up was simply gone. Thanks, though, for teaching me about the origin of “smog”!
