Why can't I sign into Fluther with my usual computer?

“Great Question” (4points)

I use an old Dell D610 running XP to go to this site. It has been working properly for at least 6 years. Last night I signed in using a new Kindle Fire and it worked great. I said I was in desktop mode and could read everything an respond.
However, when I tried signing in with my laptop I could not! I entered my name and password separately but that did not work. I cleared cache, I tried restarting. That did not work. I tried a different laptop, Dell E6440 running Win 7 and that worked. I made sure to log out with the kindle. It made no difference.

When I use to the old, usual laptop and go to this site the name and password pop up. I select those and click Login but nothing happens.
What is going on? What changed? Is there a setting I do not know about?
Any other suggestions?

Update – i still need help.
I have been using the latest Firefox with Ghostery and Adblock. That has worked for ages.
I just tried using Chrome with Ghostery and Adblock and it works.
Is there some setting in Firefox that won’t let me sign in?

UPDATE to the UPDATE – I fixed it.

Ghostery was set to prohibit trackers. There are 2 on this site: Google Analytics and Quantcast. The Google Analytics needed to be unblocked to proceed past login.
Whew!

I’m glad you fixed it.

Now, make me some pancakes.

Good work, @LuckyGuy.

I’ve left Google Anal. blocked. I can bypass it by trying to perform a Fluther activity that requires me to be logged in, such as giving someone a GA.

That results in me being sent to a login page. From there, I can login.

@Brian1946 Neat trick. I get no action at all if it is blocked. The screen just sits there. I will block it after I sign in.

Whoo hoo! Pancakes and sammies if you both make it here! (Probably not during the winter.)

Can you still access Facebook?

Brian1946's avatar

I can, with Google Analy blocked.

Maybe that is the same reason why I can’t access Blogspot…?

If you mean https://googleblog.blogspot.com/ , then I can access their homepage with GA blocked.

If you’re using Ghostery, can you access bspot with GA unblocked?
