Funnily enough, I expect respect. I respect people in public places, for example, I expect the same back.
Here, people often shout things at other people, like ‘Hey fat bitch’, or ‘Hello baldy’ to a woman who lost her hair through cancer. I find that disrespectul. It’s possibly also a sign of lack of self-respect.
If I were not respected perhaps a waiter would throw my ordered lunch in my face, the shop assistant would ignore me, and my local doctor would leave me waiting in the waiting room for hours.
If you mean, would I like to be admired, or to impress other people, I’d say no. Those I reserve for myself as I decide whether I am admirable or not.
