On a clear night you can see Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn with the naked eye. With binoculars, you can also see Neptune and Uranus. But you have to be away from cities, smog and light polution to see most of them. All of these are visible in tonight’s sky.
HERE is a really good, interactive sky chart that LuckyGuy turned me on to. Just punch in your town’s name and your local time in the little window in the upper right of the page and the skiy from your POV will appear. Refresh it every hour or so to keep it current. It’s an amazingly detailed chart.
HERE is a site that will tell you when these planets, stars and moon will rise and set in your sky. Just punch in your town name and it will give the correct times. When you know these things and you are out camping or sailing, you always know approximately what time it is.
And if you’re really good at yoga, you can see Uranus anytime night or day.
