“Great Question” (2points)

Bitch, nag, gossip, hysterical. All of these are terms that are usually applied to women. Men act the same way, though, but boy, don’t tell them they’re being a bitch. Talk about hysterical. What words do we used to describe men that act like this?

Human

I refer to them as drama queens, or princess.
I know that can be used for both sexes, but that is what I call men who act like that.

OK. Fair enough. Why?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Because it’s away to show them they are acting like spoiled little girls^^

@SQUEEKY2 They’re not acting like spoiled little girls. They’re acting like spoiled little boys. You hit the nail on the head with the stereotype. I’m asking why we have that stereotype.

I had a friend once who, when speaking to a person like you describe, would say, “Awright, calm down Turbo.”

I just call them bitchy or a man bitch jk

I tell my husband to quit bitching some times. The first time I said it he was shocked into silence for a moment. Then he got all insulted.

bitch -> pain (in the ass), jerk, swine, bitch

nag -> nag(ger), whiner, pain in the ass, complainer

gossip -> gossip(er), busybody, blabber(mouth), tattler, tattletale, prattler, rat, snitch, fink, ear-hustler

hysterical -> idiot, went nuts/crazy/ape(shit), peed his pants, neurotic, spasmodic, worry wort, hysterical

Ok so why do men get so insulted when you use terms normally used for women to describe their behavior? How is it an insult?

NerdyKeith's avatar

@Dutchess_III Some guys a little insecure with terms that are usually directed at women. But in terms of breaking gender norms, I have no problem being called a bitch from time to time haha.

anniereborn's avatar

I just generally call them an ass.

Bitch—>. Dick
Nag—> asshole
Gossip—-> weenie
Hysterical.—> baby, crybaby, weenie

Generally, pejorative terms that question their masculinity.

Jerk, asshole, dickwad, etc. We just don’t like having terms that usually apply only to women, to be applied to us. Hurts our sense of masculinity, or machismo.

NomoreY_A's avatar

Oh, I forgot candy ass.

NomoreY_A's avatar

And I don’t bitch, I just, umm,,,“Vent’’.

Asshole will usually cover it.
