The problem with trying to use store bought jerky is that the meat has been dried, There isn’t enough tallow to bind the fruit and nuts and jerky into a ball, so you have to add lard or bacon fat.
Pemmican is an energy type bar for survival, not for snacking. As one person who made home made pemmican said, “The verdict? I dig the savory-sweet combo, but I’m done after one bite. Meaning, it was just too heavy and my body wasn’t ready for it, I feel like I need to shovel snow or climb a frozen mountain first.”
In other words, @RedDeerGuy1 it isn’t a snack food, why would you eat it?
