Last night was brutal! We lost power at 9:30pm I think? We went to sleep and woke to very high winds about 11:30pm. We were in and out of sleep as winds became crazy strong. Some time in the very wee, dark, hours my husband woke me to ask if I thought it would be bad if he went outside. I didn’t hear anything, I assume we were in the eye. I told him to make it very fast. I still don’t know what he went to check on. Next thing I knew I was waking up again to very very strong winds (I don’t remember falling back to sleep when my husband went out) and my husband had the radio on for a little bit. Then back to sleep.
I want to say that they should pay me to forecast the track, because when I saw it come in on the east side of Naples I said that it looks like it’s coming straight for my city, but the professionals still were saying Tampa.
Next, I want to say that I love my battery operated candles.
Also, I think our governor did a great job.
Last, I’m really quite annoyed with the news coverage and how they terrify everyone, especially how it affects friends and family out of state. I am appreciative that they communicate the dangers and all the information about the storm, evacuations, hurricane preparedness, and shelters, but they also twist some of the information, and at times only get partial information so that it’s not quite accurate.
My electricity just came back on around 6:00pm.
