^Correct. It’s the double standard, that I wanted to explore.
In both Franken, and Perry’s cases, it seems like a exercise in poor judgment from an otherwise decent person. Well. That’s my take. One instance ultimately ruined a career. The other is just not a big deal. If all of the feminist, and “me too” type rhetoric is about gender equality, where is it?
I’m not calling for Perry’s head. But I think it is time for people to explore the societal inequalities that aren’t just men behaving badly. The bottom line is, the kid didn’t give Perry consent. Regardless of whether or not he let’s the incident go, it seems crystal clear that if he could have simply not had the situation occur, he would have. And it’s clear that he felt violated. It’s also cleat that Perry abused her power, and you can see a level of excitement in her while taking some of this kid’s innocence. If the tables where turned, and it was a mid 30 year old famous man, displaying the same excitement as he forced a 19 year old girl on a talent show to kiss him, he would have been destroyed. Anyone doubting that, hasn’t been paying attention.
