Hailsatan.

Something that wouldn’t rhyme with excrement of some sort. Something that, hopefully, no one could put a long “e” sound on the end. Like LarrEE, MartEE, KrisEE.

My name is Rachel, as was every other damn girl in my high school class. I literally had one math class that was ⅓ Rachels. 4 out of 12 students in the class were Rachels. It got to the point where I basically conditioned myself not to respond to my name because most of the time when I heard “Rachel” being said in the hallway they were calling to someone besides me.

So for a long time I craved to have a more “interesting” name. There are a few more unique girls’ names that I like: Indigo and June, to name a couple that come to mind immediately.

It’s funny though, as an adult I don’t know NEARLY as many Rachels. I am the only Rachel at my workplace. Maybe it was a regional thing? It’s a biblical name and my hometown was a pretty religious area. Anyway, I’m not as cranky about it anymore because of that.

I still like being called Ray as a shortening of my name because it’s cute and brings to mind sunshine. Nobody actually calls me it, though.

Maybe Emma or Sarah.

Too many names to choose just a couple ! Ashley would be nice.

You folks all know it’s legal to change your name, right? I’ve considered it recently and decided I feel right with my given name.

When I was about 6 years old though, I didn’t like it, and thought I’d like to be named Jack. Jack Black.

@Zaku I did change my last name but have no real need to change my first name. My answer was just from speculation to answer the question. I did shorten my first name to my nickname non-legally and have introduced myself by that name for many years now.

I like short, simple names. My name is different and I don’t like it. I would like a name like Joy, Jill, Ann.

Madison, Madi for short

I always thought it would be nice to have a name that sounds useful and enterprising—like Tugboat. Or maybe Lynchpin bManly.

Different. Different from what it is, that is.

My first name is my father’s, but I was always called by my nickname, which is ridiculous.
I wish I had been called by my right name.

@filmfann Meathead!

Emma is going to be a big one for baby girls for the next couple of years!

Jacqueline. “Jackie” for short.

Her Loveliness.

Actually, I did change my first name, 40 years ago, and I fully love my choice.

nightwolf5's avatar

Scott, but it’s my middle name at least.

I’m happy with my first name.. No need to change.

@janbb Funny you should mention that name. My ex, Satan, used to call me that when he was angry (which was his usual state of mind ).
