Well, I have to go with the vehicles in “Twister,” mainly because they guy who was in charge of customizing the vehicles lives not far from here. He has a little hole in the wall body shop over in Oklahoma. We stopped in at his place once and he happily told us all about it! Something I found fascinating was that when the cars got dirty, they had to have some way of maintaining that dirt pattern over a period of days, or even weeks. So what he did was, when they got the mud splatter they wanted, he then put a thick coat of liquid wax over it. That way, when it got extra dirt on it they could run it through the car was without messing up the original mud.
Also, the van in the movie…Spielberg wanted THAT year van, but he wanted one with sliding doors. Well, that year van didn’t come with sliding doors! When the car guy told him that, Spielberg just looked at him and said, “What did I say?”
Anyway, he is just fascinating to listen to.
