I’m on my 5th Kindle. I don’t read books but I find that with the e-reader that I can change the font to a larger size which has become more critical in my older age & I can change the color of the background to suit my eyes at the moment. They have white, bright white & an off white which my eyes find soothing. I keep a lot of cook books on mine & I don’t need a place in my house to keep actual books that would be mainly gathering dust. My car breaks down & I’m waiting the normal 45 minutes for AAA to show up, I can pick up my Kindle & occupy my mind until they arrive…time passes a LOT faster!!! You can highlight passages that mean something to you without destroying the book.
I also downloaded a few games onto mine so I have other things to occupy my time when I don’t feel like reading. IF you’re a Prime member , you can read many books for FREE. I usually opt to buy them so I can DL them to the Kindle & not need to be connected to a WiFi. My local library has a deal with Amazon so I can DL certain books to my Kindle to read for the next 30 days. After the 30 days it just disappears off the Kindle. I’m working on teaching myself computer coding & I’ve DL’d a lot of reference books & much like the cook books, it doesn’t require a spot in my home & absolutely NO dusting!!! What they call games, I call crossword, word search, Sudoku, & I enjoy the Hidden Objects. Most of those are free & I limit myself to NEVER more than $2.99 for a purchase. Most of my reference books have been $0.99–2.99.
Are you aware that you can add Amazon’s Kindle app to your computer so you can try it out before buying the actual Kindle. You just can’t get the games on your computer…ONLY the books. You might want to try it to get a better idea. I leave my Kindle in my car & I can still read my books on my computer & when I’m out & about the Kindle opens to where I left off on the computer or the picks up where I left off on my Kindle.
When adding books, I just have to remember to turn the Kindle on within my WiFi range so they get added properly. When I go out to lunch, I’m usually by myself so I take the Kindle in with me & read another section of my current book When doing any crafts, I’ve got the directions in front of me without the book suddenly closing on me.
I always buy the WiFi ONLY version because I don’t want pay to $40 or more for internet service. I can get anything on my WiFi at home & use it on the Kindle later.I buy the cheaper version “with ads” & I’ve learned how to ignore them.My current Kindle has a micro SD slot & I’ve put my own mp3’s on it so I can listen to my favorite music anytime I feel the urge without needing to be connected to WiFi.
I love mine!!!
