With my ulcer I kept throwing up. Put me on clear liquids and bland food for a week. Yours sounds different, with the abdominal pain.

I had bleeding ulcers and called 911 but there was no pain or nausea. I had zero appetite, though. Two nights in the hospital.

Two of my friends had ovarian cysts that gave them tremendous pain in the abdomen, but that seemed to come on suddenly and was so bad they had to go to the urgent care. I don’t recall that the pain was brought on by eating though.

A relative had a bowel obstruction that sounds sort of similar to the symptoms. That is something extremely serious.

Maybe this can help you assess whether you need to go to the ER.

Try to recall exactly when this started, and what you were doing (eating, drinking, walking around, bending over etc) when it started. And try to describe and match the type of pain from the symptom checker. Also, try to recall when and how often the pain has come and dissipated, and what things did you do, or avoid doing, to try to make the pain dissipate.

You might want to call an urgent care center near you and tell them the situation with the insurance, but explain the symptoms so that they might be able to help you decide whether it’s worth it to come in. If you have to go, you can always do a Go Fund Me, after the fact.

My bowel movements are normal so I’m at a loss. I guess that rules some things out. Thank you @Kardamom.

Doesn’t sound like an ulcer. Is the pain smack in the middle between your breasts? Or, more towards your right? Does it bore through to your back? Is it worse than labor?

Not dismissing it as unreal but it could be that your pain is psychosomatic. You’ve been under a lot of stress recently. Be kind to yourself but do go to a walk-in clinic if you don’t feel better.

Peptic ulcer (non bleeder) could be possible, and would be aggravated by stomach acid.

However, with fever I would think it more likely an infection of the digestive tract, probably large intestine.
Been there.
It would be best to seek treatment right away, but if that is not doable, stay away from dairy and greasy foods. Perhaps taking something for acid reflux could help. Stick to fluids and bland, soft foods.
If fever persists, you should see a doctor, $ be damned.

Is there any tenderness when the area is palpated? It might also be a problem with your appendix, gallbladder or kidney. I would get checked out by a PCP to see if they think it’s serious enough for a specialist.

I think you need an ultrasound.

Does the bowel movement make the pain go away?

Is the pain in your back at all?

Could you be preggers? I’m just think ovarian/luteal cyst possibility. Can be a cyst without being pregnant obviously.

I had abnormal bleeding two months ago which was very unusual. My period lasted two weeks. I think I may have asked a Q about it. I never had a chance to see anyone about that. I know I have fibroids. Most likely the ovary pain and mid abdomen pain are unrelated. They just happened to coincide with each other. No relief with bowel movements and those are normal. The mid abdomen pain doesn’t go right or left. It stays in the middle. Riding in a bumpy car makes the pain worse.

My first thought was twisted bowel because I’ve had that myself and had to be operated on within hours, but the fact that your bowel seems to be working okay would rule that out I think.
It disturbs me so much that lack of insurance mean that US citizens cannot simply go to the emergency ward at your local hospital. While the NZ system is far from perfect, healthcare availability in the US leaves much to be desired.

That’s what I was thinking and the other pain could be stress related. I know stress can cause many health issues. I know I had a fever though the past few days and last night for sure. The pain has let up some tonight. Hopefully I can hold off until insurance kicks in.

Fibroids can become an emergency. I had multiple fibroids for years, no problems (unless you count my problem carrying pregnancies, but as far as we could tell they probably were not the cause). But, a friend of mine wound up in sudden excruciating pain and rushed to the emergency room one day, and it was a fibroid pushing on something, I don’t remember, and it was very dangerous, I think risk of necrotic tissue.

I don’t know how the eating causing you pain might fit in with that though? I’m just throwing stuff out there. Might help you google and rule stuff out.

If it doesn’t let up don’t wait too long.

I just noticed a rash all over my upper body. Little red dots. I usually get this with strep. Something is definitely going on. ugh

@JLeslie It feels like a fibroid might be pushing on my left ovary. That’s probably it.

@janbb The moment I got the call that we were approved for the home rental we wanted my pain went away. I’m not kidding. I still had a rash for the next few days but my abdomen was fine. You are one smart penguin.
