Have you ever gotten some weird questions in your job interview?

“Great Question” (1points)

Many job interviews have the same pattern of questions. I would like to see if you might have some weird ones, as well as how did you respond.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah.
To determine my fitness for a security clearance position in the Navy, I was asked,
“In the situation that your family comes aboard ship to visit you, if the ship were invaded by enemy forces, could you kill your family? ”
I said, “You bet. ”

Not that I can remember.
@Patty_Melt You should have said: “I am not sure, but I could certainly kill yours.”

@Patty_Melt They didn’t even explain why you might be in a position to have a reason to kill your family? That seems like a huge non-sequitur to me. “Oh, enemy forces are boarding the ship during a family visit (as so often happens), I guess I need to kill my own family first…”

Yes. I was asked what I’d bring to a potluck with the theme of “blue.”

I’ve also asked a few weird ones.

“What is the greatest risk you have ever taken?”
– I responded with something rather personal.

“You’re not independently wealthy, are you? I hope you need the money…”
– Sadly, no.

“Is bank customer service your first choice for a career?”
– Well, no. (This got me turned down.)

Yes, my very first answer on this site was the response I wanted to give.

@Zaku, I was seeking a spot which deals with sensitive information.
I was told that if enemy forces invaded ship while family was present, my job would require me to kill them, so they could not be tortured to get me talking.
I had no problem with agreeing, as it would be far more likely enemy forces would board my ship than anyone from my family.

@Patty_Melt That’s both hilariously backwards and terrifying! Thanks!
