I am not much of a cook because I can’t taste. Cooking in general sort of freaks me out, but even I can handle this recipe. Many of the fried cabbage recipes are high in sugar, but I make it without the sugar and it’s awesome. My husband likes it, and it doesn’t have a lot of grease unless you choose to put it in there.
I fry bacon until crispy and crumble it. I drain off the grease, then I add cut up onions and cook them in the grease that’s left until they are golden brown. I chop up the cabbage until it is in bite-size pieces and dump it in on top. I let it steam until the cabbage is wilted (add a little water if necessary), and stir everything together. Serve.
This is a very forgiving recipe, meaning you really don’t need to measure anything. If you’re extra fond of onions, put in more. If you want lots of bacon, go to town with it.
