I took martial arts once upon a time. My instructor had married a Filipino woman. She had been taking lessons as well. She was a brown belt, I think. Anyway, one night he came home drunk and late and she greeted him at the door with all sorts of drags: You’re Late! You’re Drunk! Where have you been? Who have you been with? His drunken response was something along the lines of “Ah…shut up. Quitcherbitchin!” He woke in the morning on the floor at the front door, where she laid him out. So really, I guess in her case, martial arts was more valuable, though for him, better skills at marital arts would have helped far more.
